2nd Katti: [Action]

[So Lyn's had a strange time adjusting to Luceti.  On the good side, she found three of her friends almost immediately after arriving.

On the bad side, she's trapped, she's been told to expect unpleasantness from the Malnosso, and one of said friends has been kidnapped.

How does she intend to deal with the stress this brings on her?  Training!  She's out in a clearing away from general foot traffic, Mani Katti drawn, going through various battle stances.  Interrupt?  Challenge her?  Or just watch?  The choice is yours.

[HOOOOSHIII-- You did NOT just go there, Lyn. It is ON.

Eliwood's gonna run towards her and deliver a downward slash, followed by a thrust aimed low.

So . . . your parents ran off and had you all the way out in the plains? You grew up like a tribeswoman?

[identity profile] upontheplains.livejournal.com 2009-04-16 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[Bring it, bucko, I've got three missions and probably like seven levels on you.

The slash she sidesteps, moving to the right. The thrust she deflects, and with a grin on her face, she swings up from the right, aiming at his hip.

Yep! It's one of the reasons they rarely ever used my full name, so that travelers wouldn't recognize it as being one used by a Marquess's wife. They named me after my grandmother you see.

[Yeah, but your Strength stat sucks. You can barely touch the Dragon at the end.

He steps to the left, evading her swing, and then thrusts towards her torso.

They used a nickname as a way of disguising you and your family's identity. That was a pretty smart thing for them to do. Was it when you were seventeen that they decided to tell you about your lineage?

[Just because Durandal is hax...

She lifts her blade to deflect his, but it only partly works. He ends up stabbing right next to her stomach as she holds his sword to the side with her own.

No, actually...

When I was seventeen, my tribe was attacked by bandits. Nearly everyone, including my parents, was killed. My tribe fell apart, and I was alone until I met Mark.

Oh. Sorry about that . . .

But, at least you're alive and healthy. They'd be happy to know that you're hanging on there with friends to help you.

Well, it was some time ago. I've moved on.

At any rate, I ended up under attack by some assassins who did know who I was, and a pair of knights loyal to my grandfather came to help me. When they learned of my identity, they insisted I return to my mother's home with them... I did, but only because I wanted to meet my grandfather.

[identity profile] fireandnobility.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
[Snap. He hadn't planned on actually hurting Lyn, or coming close to it. He withdraws his blade and steps back, preparing for the next move.]

[identity profile] inferrer.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
You did meet him, didn't you? Since you ended up passing your control over to another ruler, which means you must have gotten to him.

Not bad. You're not bad at all.

[identity profile] upontheplains.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
[Lyn's sweating and panting quite a bit from the exertion by now, which is probably why she slipped up enough to let him get that close, but she's grinning hugely anyway, and judging by that slash towards his gut she's sending his way, she's far from finished.]

[identity profile] upontheplains.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, in the end we managed to make our way back to him, and took down my uncle, who'd been poisoning him to take the title for himself. My grandfather and I spent a few years together after that, interrupted by the war I mentioned... and then when he died, I went back to the plains I grew up in.

Well I'm glad you think so.

[identity profile] fireandnobility.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
[Lyn rebounding so quickly does take Eliwood by surprise, and he narrowly dodges that slash, it grazing his right side.

However, he's lived through worse wounds than a cut, and so, he continues on, and delivers a slash towards Lyn's left side.

[She nimbly steps back out of range of his sword swing at that...

And proceeds to trip over a rock behind her, falling ignobly on her rear. She just sits there for a moment, blinking up at him.

Then she bursts out laughing.

[identity profile] fireandnobility.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
[Laughter is contagious, you know, and Eliwood finds himself chuckling at Lyn's antics.]

Hahaha... Are you alright, Lyndis? [He extends a hand to help her up.]

[identity profile] upontheplains.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
I'm fine, I'm fine. [She lets him pull her to her feet, and glances at his side.]

My apologies, Eliwood, I didn't intend to actually injure you...

[identity profile] fireandnobility.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
It will be fine, Lyndis. You and I have both weathered much worse.

[identity profile] upontheplains.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, that's very true.

Well, it was a good spar at any rate. It's good to know you haven't lost any of your edge here, Eliwood.

[identity profile] fireandnobility.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
Hah... I only hope that I've lived up to near the expectations that my future self has set for you.

[identity profile] upontheplains.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
Don't worry about that, Eliwood. If I want to challenge you on that scale, I'll draw the Sol Katti and ask you to bring Durandal.

[identity profile] fireandnobility.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
It was a good spar, though, Lyndis. It does certainly bring back memories.

Why am I not surprised your uncle was trying to poison him of all things? At least you gave him what was coming. . . Back to your old life, huh?

The name's Sokka, by the way. What would your name be, O fellow tribes person?

[action]

[identity profile] upontheplains.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, we brought him down... I gave the final blow myself. Yes. It's less flashy, but... it's what I'm used to.

It's Lyn. Very good to meet you, Sokka. So what tribe are you from?
