3rd Katti: [Voice]

The spirits of Luceti... granters of magic to anyone who puts forth the necessary effort to gain a pact with them...  I wonder if...

If it's not too much of a bother, can anyone provide advice as to contacting the spirits of this place?  I'm particularly interested in Fire and Lightning, but I won't turn down any information about the others.

In order to learn from the spirit of fire, you'll need to have an affinity for that element. He can be quite picky, even if you do. His name is Eferin and it will take about a month to understand the basics. You can hear him most easily in the forest.

The spirit of lightning is Tsinku. You'll find him in wide open areas; there must be plenty of room for him to move about. He's headstrong and forceful, but it's possible to earn his respect. Developing a good relationship with him takes a few weeks, also.

If you don't already know healing magic on your own, I would highly recommend Nala. She's friendly and easy to learn from--and in a place like this, healing can come in handy. She's also the easiest found, as you can hear her almost anywhere. It only takes a couple of weeks to learn from her.

I know a bit about the others, as well. It's how I've spent most of my time here when not in town, so if you need help or have any other questions, I'd be glad to tell you what I know.

Fire and Lightning: What are the odds of it being those two elements?

You've been interested in learning magic?

Eferin, Tsinku, and Nala. [There's a brief pause as she writes a few things down on non-journal paper.]

I appreciate the help, miss. So, what precisely do you mean by an "affinity" for the element? I'm no mage...

It's because of back home... two of my friends had powerful weapons that used those elements, I want to see if I can duplicate the effects with the help of some magic.

Yes. There was never really a chance back home... I had neither talent nor a person to teach me. But here, everyone can learn it, and it might come in very handy.

That's awfully coincidental, since fire and lightning go hand in hand where I'm from. Considering it's magic and all, you just might be able to imitate it if you can get in contact with the right spirits.

Hey, just like me. Might be worth it later to learn it, and there's nothing stopping us from getting to it unlike in our worlds.

[identity profile] upontheplains.livejournal.com 2009-05-09 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, that was my hope. Though the lightning weapon was an axe and I use swords, so that will probably be at least a little different.

Exactly. Would you like me to share what I find out with you then, Sokka?

My name is Rydia. By affinity, I mean talent or skill in abilities relating to that element. I was able to speak with Eferin because I knew some fire magic from my own world. If you don't already have such...well, try to talk to Eferin anyway. If he decides to speak with you at all, chances are you have what it takes.

[identity profile] upontheplains.livejournal.com 2009-05-09 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
I see... I'm not sure he'll accept me, but I'll try anyway. Thank you, Rydia. And I'm Lyndis.

Still, a lightning weapon is a lightning weapon. Axes and swords just differ in shapes and purposes.

That would be good, and I'll do the same in return if you do.

You're welcome, Lyndis! Good luck with your quests.

Very true.

Alright. Well, for starters, here's what I've managed to learn from a woman named Rydia. The spirit of fire is named Eferin, and he's very picky about who he allows to have his power. Some sort of affinity for fire is needed, so I'm doubtful about either of our abilities to make a pact with him.

The spirit of lightning is named Tsinku. He's a fierce, headstrong spirit, but you can earn his respect through... some means I'm not sure of. Perhaps just simple determination?

The spirit of healing is Nala. She's the friendliest of the spirits, and can be spoken to anywhere. It usually just takes a couple of weeks to make a pact with her.

[identity profile] inferrer.livejournal.com 2009-05-09 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Yeeeah, if we need to have some sort of affinity for fire, I'm definitely not making that list. Water's the furthest thing from fire, you know?

If it's determination, we've got it. There's plenty of ways to earn respect, but I'm sure we'll receive it through effort.

That means she's going to be the first spirit we should try to get in contact with, right?

[Voice]

[identity profile] upontheplains.livejournal.com 2009-05-09 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
I agree. I'm going to try anyway, but if anything, I probably have an affinity for wind, not fire. You might as well work on the others instead.

I'm pretty sure we'll figure it out better after we get into contact with him anyway.

Yes, that was my plan. Once we've made one pact, it should be easier to figure out what we need to do for the others.

[identity profile] inferrer.livejournal.com 2009-05-09 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Whichever works best. I never thought about picking fire up, anyway.

Makes sense. So first we'll tackle this healing spirit, then go on to the others with the experience we make. Good luck on your side for that.

I know the fire one. Hangs out in the forest. He's kind of a jerk though. Helps if you have some sorta connection ta fire. 'least that's how I got him to talk to me. Well, that's why he started talkin' to me. He wanted to know a lot about... well that doesn't really matter now.

[Voice]

[identity profile] upontheplains.livejournal.com 2009-05-09 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
You as well. Oh, and according to the guide, there are occasionally lessons about the spirits held at the school. I'm still uncertain as to whether I'll attend them, but it's something to keep in mind.

[identity profile] upontheplains.livejournal.com 2009-05-09 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
Well I don't have any real link to fire from my homeworld, but I'll try to speak with him anyway. The worst that can happen is I end up wasting a bit of time, and, well... time is abundant here.

[Voice]

[identity profile] inferrer.livejournal.com 2009-05-09 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I started attending not too long ago. And it doesn't hurt to catch up on academics, so it's been an interesting experience so far.

I've never actually had formal schooling. I might stop in just to see what it's like.

[personal profile] colony_brat 2009-05-09 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, the worst that'll happen is ya spend some time relaxin' in the woods. 's not wastin' time. It's relaxing. You can always talk to the animals if ya get too bored.

[identity profile] upontheplains.livejournal.com 2009-05-09 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
[She laughs.] That's a good way to look at it, I suppose.

I'm Lyndis, by the way. Most people call me Lyn. And you are?
colony_brat: (Cheeky)

[personal profile] colony_brat 2009-05-09 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
Lyn. Pretty name for a pretty girl. I'm Duo Maxwell. I may run and hide, but I never tell a lie. [He bows a little to the journal, grinning like a dork.]

[identity profile] upontheplains.livejournal.com 2009-05-09 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
Really now? Sounds like someone I know. [She grins a little.] Actually, two people.
colony_brat: (Straight smile)

[personal profile] colony_brat 2009-05-09 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
[It's Duo's turn to laugh.] People stealin' my show? Hopefully ya like 'em.

[identity profile] upontheplains.livejournal.com 2009-05-09 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
One of them I didn't get off to the best start with, but yes. Yes I do.
